Happy Mother's Day

Yesterday was my first real Mother's Day, and my thoughtful husband made it wonderful! I woke up to crepes--yes, crepes--for breakfast (I'm lucky that David likes to cook) and Josh gave me some chocolates. David is going to make me a piano bench this weekend when we go to Thatcher, since the bench that goes with the piano bit the dust a long time ago. (I guess that's what happens when you get a hand-me-down piano that went through who knows how many of my mom's piano students.) Anyway, I got to teach the YW lesson at church, so I didn't have the day completely off, but luckily the lesson went fairly well. After church we went out to my sister Mindy's house for dinner, along with several other of my siblings and my parents, in order to spend some time with my mom on Mother's Day. That evening we were able to call David's mom to wish her a happy day as well.

I am so grateful for the wonderful mothers in my life! My mom is so patient and selfless, and I am so grateful she didn't give up after the first "few" (11) kids, so that I could have her as my mother. I'm also so grateful for David's mom, Cindi, for raising such a wonderful son. He is so thoughtful and takes such good care of me, and I know it is because he had such a wonderful mother (and father) to teach him! I'm also thankful for wonderful grandmothers. My Grandma Flake was the only grandma I knew, and she passed away when I was 18. She always made me feel loved and special, even though I was one of 70 of her grandchildren. And I'm very fortunate to have married into 2 more wonderful grandmothers! Thank you all, and I hope all you mothers had a wonderful Mother's Day!

In other news this week...Josh finally got his first tooth! I can barely get him to open his mouth for me to see it at all, much less get a picture of it, so we'll probably have to wait until it gets a little bigger to get a good picture.

This week also marked the 2 year anniversary of mine and David's first date. So we had my niece Shelby come over and baby-sit so David and I could go out to eat and see the Jerster'z comedy show. We had a great time! In some ways I can't believe that 2 years have already gone by, but then I think of all that has happened (getting married, having a baby), and it seems funny that it has only been 2 years. But, they have been the best 2 years of my life! I am so blessed!

Happy Mother's Day! Isn't it the greatest!?! I told Chris I think we need to have Mother's Day once a month. He didn't have much of a response so I'll take that as a I DON'T THINK SO.

mmmm...crepes! David has been holding back on us! I expect them over the 24th! j/k :)
...and I agree with Stacia. Although Brandon is SO helpful...I love mother's day because I can let him do all the work and not feel one bit lazy or guilty about it!

Amy, we had crepes too! Funny:) So do you have your moms old piano that was in the bedroom forever? Its funny because it has probably been out of that bedroom forever, but thats how I'll remember it, since it was that way the last few years we were there. How old were we when she got her grand? Its weird how fast time is flying. I cant believe its been almost two years for you guys! Crazy.

We are lucky for our mothers and I think we appreciate them more as we go through our own experiences as mothers. I can't believe you and David -2yrs, I remember when you told me you were dating. It seems like not that long ago and now you have a 9 month old. I'm glad I didn't jinx it when you told me. Remember?
