Getting Dressed

This morning I had picked out this cute little number for Mary to wear to church.

So as to try to make it to church on time (it didn't happen), David was getting Mary dressed while I was getting myself dressed. After he was finished he brought her in and I looked at her and noticed the buttons were on Mary's front instead of the back and I mentioned to David that he put it on backwards. He asked me why they put the buttons on the back--they're supposed to go on the front! I just had to laugh.

And...take a look at these sock indentations. Aren't they great?!

Fathers & Sons

I don't want Josh to feel left out, so here is an update on him as well.

This past weekend David and Josh went to our ward's fathers' and sons' campout. David said Josh slept well and had a great time, even though it was pretty cold, up until he fell and scraped up his nose and lip on the asphalt on Saturday morning. I don't blame him for not being too happy after that, though, because it looked pretty painful. He's such a good boy and is so tough (for the most part) even after he gets hurt. Here's the progression of the injury:

Right after geting home.

Yesterday after it was nice and scabbed up. It looked the worst on Sunday because he had a nice fat lip to go with those scabs.

This evening after he had spent the day picking off most of the scabs. Chicks dig scars, right? You can tell how excited he was about me taking his picture.

Here are some more fun pictures of Josh from this past month:

Playing in the snow in the back of the truck while wheeling with Dad up on Montana Mountain Road (in the Superstition Mountains) last weekend--the day before Easter. Can you believe it snowed there in April?

Such a big helper. Notice the scrubbing pad under his foot. I drag that along with my foot as I mop so as to save myself from having to bend over to scrub so often (yes, I'm lazy). I guess he picked up on that.

And just for fun, does he look any chubbier today than he did when he was born?

Mary at One Month

Mary is already one month old, can you believe it? I was just mentioning to my visiting teachers how the first few months with a new baby seem to go buy really slowly at times, especially the day to day parts of what seems like constant feeding and changing diapers, but then you look back and wonder how it passed so quickly! That's how it was with Josh, and again with Mary.

Mary is growing like a weed and adding more rolls and chubs, which makes her even more cute. Here she is right after being born, then today at one month old:

Does she look chubbier to you?

Mary is sleeping pretty well at night, she'll usually give me at least a 3 hour stretch, if not a 4 or 4 1/2 hour stretch, which is so nice after getting up every 1 1/2 - 2 hours with Josh for the first couple of months. She also takes pretty good naps, but no schedule yet. Josh would only take short catnaps at this age, so this is a nice change. This last week I have caught a few small smiles when I get her to look at me, but nothing too big yet...I'm excited for those. She is also able to hold her neck up a lot better, but it's still not quite strong enough to sit up in the Bumbo.

Here are some more fun pictures of Mary taken this past month:

Blog Help

After I posted my last post I noticed that something weird happened with all the other wording on my page (previous posts and sidebar)...the font was smaller. Does anyone know what caused this and/or how to fix it? It could've been something Josh did, because he does like to come up to the computer and start randomly moving the mouse around and pushing buttons, but I haven't been able to figure it out yet. I've tried playing around with the font size and other layout tools a bit, but can't seem to find or fix the problem.

Any help would be much appreciated, because it's bugging me. Hopefully it's fixable!

Another note: I just tried looking at my page on Firefox, and it looks normal...so maybe it's an Internet Explorer problem???

Two Marys

Not only did we like the name "Mary", but we had someone really great who already had that name--my Mom. We named Mary after her and David's Great-Great-Grandma Belle. After we chose "Belle" for the middle name we learned that Grandma Belle's first name was actually Mary, she just went by Belle...crazy!

Here are my mom and Mary at the hospital on Baby Mary's birthday.

And here they are when Mary is 1 week + 1 day old. Mom had stopped by after church before heading back out to Mindy's to make sure I was doing okay since I had a rough first time alone with both kids a few days earlier!

Aren't they two lovely ladies?!

Thank you, thank you, thank you Mom for all you did to take care of Mary, Josh & me (& David)!

Cousins!

This past Sunday Mary (and the rest of our family) got to meet my niece Marlee for the first time. Marlee is Mindy's new baby that was born 6 days after Mary, even though she was due 1 day before. For those 6 days while Mindy was still pregnant and I wasn't she didn't think that was very fair at all, but I think she's okay with it now. :)

In case you haven't already memorized the look of my beautiful baby, Marlee is on the left and Mary is on the right. Look at the difference in those legs! According to Mindy, Marlee got Chad's skinny legs. Unfortunately, Mary got my legs...

This picture cracks me up because it looks like Marlee is saying "Na na nuh na na" to the camera.

Mothers and Daughters...remember, we just gave birth recently, so don't judge!

Josh & Mary

How is Josh adjusting to not being the center of attention, you ask? Pretty well, all in all. The first few days were pretty rough (probably more for me than Josh) because I couldn't pick him up--which was really frustrating--but now that I got the okay to pick him up, things are better, for me at least.

Josh is a pretty happy-go-lucky little boy, thankfully, but he definitely has had his share of temper tantrums this last couple of weeks. And for about the last week he has had a cough and cold, which hasn't improved his mood at all. Luckily that seems to be on the mend.

Mary tolerates all the kisses from her brother pretty well...even these last few days when they've been somewhat snotty. Josh loves to touch her ears (we try to keep him away from her eyes). He still calls her "Baby" and won't really even try to say "Mary". Right now he's in a phase where when we tell him to say something and he doesn't know how to/doesn't want to try to, he'll just say "Da" for a one-syllable word or "Da-da" for a two syllable word. He's a little stinker sometimes, but he can sure be sweet!

Josh loves to give Mary kisses.

Please get this thing out of my mouth!!

This (Josh holding Mary) lasted for a total of about .5 seconds.

Josh sure loves all the new toys he gets to play with!
