Earlier this month General Dynamics did a massive layoff and David was one of the "lucky" ones who got let go. Needless to say, we were a bit worried!
The job hunt began. We (mostly David, but me too) talked to all sorts of people who had openings in their companies to sent in resumes to (seemingly--or maybe not, it was a lot) hundreds of places, and talked to a lot of people who new of openings or knew someone who worked somewhere that might be a good fit. During this time David took advantage of the "Career Coaching" that GD paid for and got some good help updating his resume.
After a couple of weeks we came across a job posting on one of the job websites for a company called Edupoint Educational Systems. David sent in his resume and either that same day or the next they called him for a phone interview, then set up an in-person interview for the next day (that was Thursday 6/23). They told him at the interview that they would give him a call over the weekend to let him know. They did call over the weekend and set up another interview with a higher-up guy for the following Monday, 6/27. That interview went well, and they offered him the job and told him he could start the next day!
We are so grateful to Heavenly Father for watching over us and providing for us and helping David to find a new job so quickly! We know it often takes months for some to land a new job, and we feel so blessed.
